All individuals submitting materials for the Journal of Microbiology & Biology Education must attest that they own the copyright and the materials are original; this includes text, figures, tables, artwork, abstracts, cover images, summaries, and supplemental materials included in the submission.
If a submission is accepted for publication, the authors retain the copyright to all original work. However, the corresponding authors must sign an Author Agreement granting the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) an irrevocable nonexclusive license to publish their work. Upon publication, the work becomes freely available on ASM’s Journal of Microbiology & Biology Education reader website and PubMed Central’s Open Access subset for the public to copy, distribute, or display under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International license (License: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/; Legal Code: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/legalcode).
