2-D PAGE reference map for K-12 strain W3110. A 3-mg load of was solubilized with extract 3 (Fig. 3) without sample fractionation. The proteins were focused in the first dimension on a pH 4 to 7 IPG strip and separated on an 8 to 18% gradient gel. The proteins were stained with colloidal Coomassie brilliant blue G-250. SwissProt accession numbers were assigned to proteins that have been identified through PMF. Peptide mass estimates between 800 and 2,600 Da were obtained with MALDI-TOF MS to 50 ppm.
