Abstract:

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most common serious bacterial infections and remains a major challenge to global health. One-third of the human population has been infected with Globally, drug-resistant tuberculosis is emerging as a new epidemic, with approximately 0.5 million new multidrug-resistant cases annually. TB is second only to HIV as a worldwide cause of death from an infectious disease, and HIV infection, in turn, is a major risk factor for TB.
