Abstract:

Beginning January 1, 2016 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) put into effect Individualized Quality Control Plan (IQCP) for all Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) laboratory nonwaived testing ( ). IQCP is voluntary and is supposed to provide labs with flexibility in customizing QC policies and procedure based on the test systems in use and the unique aspects of each lab. The impact of IQCP is still yet to be fully realized and some uncertainties exist at the time of writing on the best methods for implementation.
