The goal of preharvest broiler food safety is to minimize opportunities for the introduction, persistence, and transmission of foodborne pathogens (mostly and ) in the bird flock. Current intervention strategies to combat foodborne pathogens in preharvest broiler production target and in general, or more specifically target certain serotypes that are most frequently associated with human disease.
